Employees of MeatCo have handed over a petition over delayed salary increments and demanded fairness and accountability from management.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says that Workers' Day on May 1 will feature joint preparations by workers, the government, and employers in a tripartite arrangement.

Civil servants will receive a salary increment of five per cent come 1st April.

This follows a signing agreement between the government, the Namibia Public Workers Union (NAPWU) and the Namibia National Teachers' Union (NANTU).

The agreement covers two financial years, 2026/27 and 2027/28.
