The residents of Otjimanangombe Village in the Epukiro Constituency in Omaheke now have a fully furnished ambulance, donated by the Catherine Bullen Foundation.
The ambulance is valued at N$1 million.
To give due care and support to people living with disabilities, the Ministry of Health and Social Services has launched a Hope Home-Based Health Care Centre as well as a mobile clinic at Tsumeb.
In most cases, people with disabilities require assistance that not everyone can offer.
The Minister of Health and Social Services, Kalumbi Shangula, says half of Namibia's population still practices open defecation when nature calls.
Speaking at the Global Handwashing Day commemoration at Rundu, Dr Shangula said this makes hand washing even more important.
