High Court Judge Shafimana Ueitele said he will not recuse himself from the case in which Professor Job Amupanda is challenging the legality of the veterinary Red Line. 

The judge’s decision comes after Amupanda made a slew of allegations against him, which were widely publicized.

The High Court proceedings in the contentious Veterinary Cordon Fence (Red Line) case took another turn as Judge Shafimana Ueitele rejected a report by a government-commissioned consortium led by prominent lawyer Dirk Conradie.  

The High Court proceedings in the Veterinary Cordon Fence (Red Line) case became heated when lawyers representing activist Professor Job Shipululo Amupanda announced their decision not to proceed with a previously indicated application for the recusal of Judge Shafimana Ueitele. 

Justice Hosea Angula has been appointed as a judge of the Supreme Court, effective 1 December.

President Nangolo Mbumba made the appointment following the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission.

In a step towards promoting demographic diversity in the Namibian Judiciary, Lady Justice Rita Tambudzai Makarau was sworn in today as an Acting Judge of the Supreme Court.

The ceremony, held at the Supreme Court in Windhoek, was attended by members of the legal fraternity and dignitaries.

Judge Shafimana Ueitele has ordered the Namibian Government to release four Angolan children who have been in state custody for more than four years.

In 2018, the state opened a case against businessman Simon Andjamba on charges of human trafficking.
