The recent attacks on elderly residents in the coastal towns of Henties Bay and Swakopmund have raised significant concerns about the safety of senior citizens in the Erongo Region. 

In responding to the workers' calls, Merlus Company Chairman Stanley Katzao assured them of the company's highest priority placed on their health and safety.

Some workers at the Merlus Fishing factory in Walvis Bay are still apprehensive about returning to work following an ammonia leak that they were exposed to on Wednesday.

The ammonia leak occurred at a fishing vessel that was being repaired near the factory.

The Dâure Daman community at Uis in the Erongo Region raised grievances at a meeting on Tuesday about their traditional authority leader, Gaob Zagarias Seibeb, for alleged violations of customary laws and is calling for his removal.

The Chairman of Merlus Management, Stanley Katzao, has denied that their factory is the source of the ammonia leak that exposed its workers to dangerous, life-threatening fumes.

China's Foreign Affairs Minister, Wang Yi, met with President Nangolo Mbumba and discussed ways to strengthen the two countries bilateral ties.

The theme, Goraseb, says reflects the town's commitment to strengthening its community and economy through initiatives that focus on education, skills development, and inclusivity.

In his New Year message to the inhabitants of the Erongo Region, Governor Neville Andre expressed hope for a prosperous 2025 and has encouraged unity, peace, and continued progress within the region.
