Grootfontein Municipality is currently without a Chief Executive Officer but plans to fill the vacancy next year.
The Acting Chief Executive Officer, Indileni Lungameni, reports that the council has received 30 applications for the position.
The vacancy arose following the dismissal of Kisco Sinvula last year due to 27 charges, including alleged abuse of authority and corruption.
An out-of-court settlement resulted in Sinvula and the council parting ways with a payout of 2.9 million dollars after a 14-month suspension.
“In compliance with the ministerial directive to all local authorities operating without CEOs, Grootfontein Municipality is at an advanced stage regarding the recruitment of a substantive CEO. So far, the shortlisting has been completed, and the interview process will commence in January. We anticipate having a substantive CEO on board by March or April.”
