NamWater is implementing urgent measures to address water supply challenges at Opuwo.
In a statement, NamWater reaffirms its commitment to ensuring a reliable and potable water supply for the residents of Opuwo.
In response to challenges caused by deteriorating water quality and supply insufficiencies, NamWater has introduced short, medium and long-term measures to address the situation.
As part of immediate interventions, NamWater is replacing membranes at the Opuwo Reverse Osmosis Plant to restore treated water supply.
New membranes have already been procured and deployed to the site.
Work begun today and is expected to be completed by the 12th of February.
NamWater is drilling new boreholes at Omanduu and Okovaeve villages, where assessments have indicated better water quality compared to current sources.
The new boreholes will reduce dependency on the existing, low-quality water sources.
