President Nangolo Mbumba paid tribute to the late Founding President, Sam Nujoma, saying that he spared no effort to motivate Namibians from all walks of life to build a country that would stand tall among nations of the world.
President Mbumba and First Lady Sustjie Mbumba arrived at the Nujoma residence to console the family, including the 93-year-old widow Kovambo Nujoma.
He said the late patriarch bravely led and kept the spirit of independence alive, even during the most difficult periods.
Dr. Mbumba likened Nujoma's leadership style of calling crucial meetings of Swapo Party leadership at night for decisive acts in the fight for freedom to the time he took his last breath.
The Mbumba family also comforted the late Nujoma's companion for 68 years, Kovambo.
Earlier, President Mbumba announced that the government would announce a period of national mourning and burial arrangements following consultations with the Nujoma and Kondombolo families.
