President Nangolo Mbumba has announced that Namibia has reached a significant milestone in its journey towards sustainable growth, aligning with the country's vision for industrialisation, economic diversification, and job creation.
This achievement comes with the official inauguration of the Nambaza Logistics Park (NLP) and the Blue Institute of Technology (BIT), two key projects based at Walvis Bay, set to shape Namibia's future.
President Mbumba highlighted that the establishment of NLP and BIT represents a strategic move in the nation's broader efforts to attract investment and foster business growth, particularly with the emergence of new sectors such as green hydrogen, oil, and gas.
He stressed that these initiatives underscore Namibia's commitment to strengthening its economy and readiness for the opportunities these industries will bring.
The NAMBAZA Logistics Park, a landmark infrastructure project, is set to transform Namibia into a regional logistics and distribution hub in line with the country's strategic vision for economic growth.
This state-of-the-art facility aims to streamline freight movement and alleviate congestion at the busy Walvis Bay port.
Dr. Mbumba stated that by creating vital economic infrastructure and investing in quality education, Namibia can ensure that its youth are equipped to participate in economic growth.
He highlighted the critical role of education and workforce development in the nation's future success.
"The name 'Nambaza' is derived from the Oshiwambo word 'Ombaza,' meaning cowhide, a symbol of strength and quality valued in the Oshiwambo culture and many other African cultures. Nambaza is a befitting name for the Logistics Park whose foundation we are laying today, in pursuit of providing a demand-driven logistical hub that will propel Namibia into the future of manufacturing, bulk breaking, and exports. I am informed that, once completed, Nambaza Logistics Park will be a 150,000-square-meter industrial complex consisting of a truck port equipped with a fuel station and 250 parking bays. Additionally, it will accommodate a healthcare facility and several amenities for users."
