The town of Okahandja came together in grief as they said goodbye to six-year-old Roswinds Fabianu, whose life was tragically cut short in a brutal act that has shaken the nation.

Roswinds was laid to rest at the Oshetu cemetery in Okahandja.

Family members remembered her as a bright and joyful child who loved to sing.

In her eulogy, it was noted that Roswinds was raised by her paternal grandmother in Okalongo, located in the Omusati region.

When she turned five, her aunt, who shares her name, brought her to Okahandja to live with her and begin school.

On that fateful Thursday, April 24, everything changed when Roswinds did not return home from school.

Her mother, Helaria Nghipunya, who lives in Rehoboth, was informed of the situation.

This was recounted on her behalf during a farewell address at the Helmi-ELCIN Church, where the service was held.

The community was left shattered when the tragic news broke that Roswinds had been found raped and murdered. In response, Mara Van Wyk from AML Funeral and Cremation Services, along with her children, decided to donate a casket to the grieving family.

Van Wyk, who has been an undertaker for 15 years, expressed her shock at the devastating turn of events.

During his sermon, Pastor Fillemon Fillemon urged mourners to pray for the family.

Roswinds was the second girl to go missing and later be discovered murdered; her peer Ingrid Maasdrop was also found sexually violated and killed.

Tragedy struck again soon after, as 15-year-old Beyonce Kharuxas was also discovered raped and murdered.

Roswinds is survived by her father, Paulus Fabianu, her mother, Helaria Nghipunya, and her three siblings.
