The |Khomas Regional Council, through the Moses ||Garoëb Constituency office, has donated income-generating materials valued at around N$230,000.
This is to address the high unemployment rate and poverty within the constituency.
The council donated items to groups rather than individuals to cater to more people and to promote teamwork among the beneficiaries.
The items were donated to four groups, which received a full set of recording studio equipment, ICT tools, sports-related items, and a milling and crushing machine, among others.
Councillor of the Moses ||Garoëb Constituency, Stefanus Ndengu, said that the donation is a testament to the council's commitment to ensure that no one is left behind.
"It gives me great pleasure to be with you today as we witness yet another milestone in our collective journey toward youth empowerment, community development and economic inclusion within the Moses ||Garoëb Constituency. Today we are gathered here to hand over support to four dynamic groups that demonstrated both initiative and commitment to uplift themselves and also others in their constituency."
Beneficiary Jesaya Abraham expressed appreciation on behalf of the beneficiaries.
"We can create employment also. Because we want to take the boy child off the street and also tell our own stories. What we want to do is storytelling."
A fellow community member, Kuku Pisi, also made use of the platform to donate 100 jerseys to primary school learners within the constituency.
She says that with winter around the corner, she is aware that many parents find it difficult to afford these items, given the high levels of poverty in the community.
