Young leaders from across the country have gathered for a three-day orientation as part of the newly formed Youth Advisory Panel set to serve for the next two years.
The panel aims to ensure that youth are not just implementers but active advisors in national decision-making.
71% of the population of Namibia is under the age of 35, and youth empowerment is therefore not just a policy priority – it's a necessity.
The discussions will not only highlight the voices of young people but will also promote inclusive policy formulation and the development of community-focused workshops.
Member of Parliament Sharonice Busch spoke about her journey as a young woman in politics and her passion for youth participation.
"When I stand here before you, I stand here as a youth leader that was prepared for over ten years in youth leadership that has prepared me for this moment not only to be a member of parliament but to confidently speak to you about the importance of youth leadership and inclusion and youth and decision-making spaces."
A youth leader from the Kavango West Region, Jakko Haiyambo, and Markus Kooper from the Hardap region emphasised the importance of inclusivity for minority communities.
The programme's goal is to ensure that young people are not just beneficiaries of policies but active contributors to their design and implementation.
Benegina Amadhila from the Oshana Region and Moreblessing Ezequiel from the Zambezi Region emphasised the importance of the Youth Advisory Panel induction.
Through these inclusive platforms, young people are poised to drive change, not just within their own communities, but across the country.
