President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah has extended condolences to India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi following the tragic crash of an Air India plane near the Ahmedabad Airport on Thursday.
The crash claimed the lives of at least 240 passengers, as well as flight crew members, including ten attendants and two pilots.
Those on board the flight included 169 Indian nationals, seven Portuguese, one Canadian, and 53 Britons.
Indian authorities have confirmed that only one passenger, a British national, survived the deadly accident and is receiving medical treatment.
"This unfortunate crash is not only an air disaster that saddens the Indian people and all other nationalities on board the aircraft, but also pains the Namibian people, who have forged strong bonds of friendship and cooperation with India," stated President Nandi-Ndaitwah in a letter to Prime Minister Modi.
She conveyed that the Namibian people feel the pain of the Indian people and all those affected by the incident during this terrible hour of sorrow.
The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner flight, bound for Gatwick Airport in London, crashed shortly after take-off.
