No tenders should be given to companies that have failed to adhere to the set minimum national wage of N$13.50.

This is according to the head of security at the Public Service Union of Namibia, Andreas Huasiku, who addressed a media briefing in Windhoek on Thursday.

Since the implementation of the National Minimum Wage on 15 January, the security cluster has had to deal with numerous companies' refusal to implement the N$13.50 per hour minimum pay stipulation.

A national minimum wage is in the process of implementation, over various phases, culminating in a minimum of N$18 per hour by 2027.

This minimum wage increase will be implemented in phases up to N$18 by 2027.

In the security industry, employer and employee representatives signed a joint agreement in the capital, which puts in place measures for structure, fairness, and legal certainty in the sector.
