Indonesia has expressed interest in assisting the government of Namibia to maintain the Kalimbeza Rice Project in the Zambezi Region.
Recently, news circulated about the dire state of the Kalimbeza rice project, highlighting mismanagement as a contributing factor.
The potential of the project, however, has attracted interest from the Indonesian government and is part of plans to help boost Namibia's food security.
Press Secretary Jonas Mbambo confirmed that President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah and Indonesia's Ambassador Mirza Nurhidayat held discussions that could result in site visits soon.
Following the presentation of the letter of credence to the President, Ambassador Nurhidayat outlined a number of other areas to strengthen bilateral cooperation with Namibia.
