The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) has issued a warning to political parties and individuals regarding the unauthorised use of its official logo in campaign materials.
It stated that such actions jeopardise public trust and may mislead voters about the Commission's role.
In a media statement, ECN CEO Peter Shaama expressed concern over the continuous unauthorised use of the logo by some parties, organisations, associations, and individuals aspiring to participate in the upcoming 2025 Regional Councils and Local Authorities elections.
The statement further clarified that the prohibition covers all forms of visual and written communication, including but not limited to posters, flyers, social media campaigns, and other promotional content.
ECN emphasised that its logo represents the Commission itself, and unauthorised use could undermine the Commission’s constitutional mandate and the integrity of Namibia’s electoral democracy.
