The Rossing Foundation, in collaboration with China National Nuclear Corporation, has sent off a group of learners selected from some of the country's best-performing schools in mathematics, science and English for a 10-day Gen Z excursion to China.
The delegation, comprising 12 learners from across all regions, will participate in an educational and cultural exchange running from 22 to 29 September.
Their itinerary includes an opening ceremony in Beijing, exploration of Chinese culture through visits to the Forbidden City and the Great Wall of China, and study tours focusing on cutting-edge technology and Olympic facilities.
Chairperson of the Rossing Foundation board, Gida Sekandi, encouraged the learners to document their experiences and embrace the opportunity to broaden their horizons.
"Be good ambassadors for my idea. Be good ambassadors for your parents. Be good ambassadors for your schools. And more importantly, record your stories. We need them. When you return, I'll be here to receive you. I'd love to hear that you recorded some stories and passed them on to the light so we can make something out of them."
CNNC's PR Manager, Susan Zhang, stressed that safety was paramount, assuring parents that the learners' welfare would remain the top priority throughout the excursion.
"So this programme has been made possible through CNC's food sponsorship with a direct investment of over N$1.2 million. And in addition, Rossing Uranium has contributed by covering staff, travel, and flight costs to ensure the smooth implementation of this programme."
