A 54-year-old man, Cornelius Kamwi, employed at the Katima Mulilo Youth Centre, died last night (Wednesday) in Katima Mulilo after losing control of his vehicle and colliding with a moving truck.

The truck, with a Zambian registration number, was entering the B8 road from the Puma service station in town, while Kamwi, who was driving a sedan without a registration number, was travelling on the main road.

According to police, Kamwi then collided with the trailer of the moving truck and was transported to Katima Mulilo State Hospital, but died from serious injuries sustained, police say.

Police and firefighters at the scene used the jaws of life to remove the victim from the vehicle.

His next of kin have been informed, and the police investigation continues.
