The former mayor of Lüderitz, Phillip Balhao, has joined the Landless People's Movement (LPM) following his recent resignation from the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC).
Balhao's mayorship ended after his resignation, as he had been serving on the council on the IPC ticket.
The Operative Secretary of the LPM, Dawid Eigub, made the announcement at a media conference held in Lüderitz.
"All of us have the capacity to lead; all of us possess the ability to transform with the gifts and skills we have; therefore, you have not made a mistake by joining this party," Eigub said.
Balhao said he made the decision to join the LPM after fruitful discussions with party officials.
"I don't have to hide how passionate I am about the community of Lüderitz. I believe Lüderitz is in a unique position now, where its future looks as bright as ever. I humbly thank the leadership of LPM for allowing me to join and try to add value to what you have done and achieved so far."
