President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah says she is confident that the people of Kenya will find strength and unity in overcoming the death of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga. Odinga died on Wednesday in India, aged 80.
In a statement, President Nandi-Ndaitwah said Odinga's death has deeply touched not only Kenya but the African continent and the world at large.
She described the late Kenyan politician as a distinguished Pan-Africanist who consistently championed the values of democracy, justice, and human rights.
The Head of State extended sympathies to President William Ruto, Odinga's widow, Ida, and their children, as well as to the Kenyan nation at large. Odinga has been undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in India.
He collapsed during a morning walk within the premises of the Ayurvedic facility and was rushed to a private hospital in Koothattukulam, where he was pronounced dead. Odinga served as Kenya's Prime Minister from 2008 to 2013.
