Zambia's President Hakainde Hichilema has called for the total lifting of economic sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
Speaking at the Bi-national Commission in Harare, Zimbabwe, on Friday, Hichilema argued that the sanctions on Zimbabwe are limiting the interregional trade.
Hichilema was in Zimbabwe for the first time since he became the President of Zambia.
It's also the first time he met his Zimbabwean counterpart in that country since the latter took over government.
The two countries signed five Memoranda of Understanding covering key areas of bilateral cooperation, including Diplomacy and Politics, Labour and Immigration, Youth, Immigration, and Agriculture.
It is on this occasion that the Zambian President raised concerns over the sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
"I must say, Mr. President, sanctions on Zimbabwe affect us; they limit what we can do with each other. Do we have a vested interest? So that's our call."
Minutes of the inaugural session of the Bi-National Commission were also signed off.
