In a bid to continue serving Namibians and champion their interests, Landless People's Movement (LPM) leader Bernadus Swartbooi urged residents to vote for the party's candidates in the upcoming Regional Councils and Local Authorities Elections.

The party prepared to contest the upcoming elections by painting the town of Mariental orange, green, and white.

The LPM leader held what he termed a community engagement meeting at Mariental with the party's political leadership and party supporters.

He highlighted the achievements of the party's councillors in the Mariental Municipality, including championing municipal debt cancellation for residents, making land available for households, ensuring that the municipal audit books were properly put in order and the plan to train over 200 young people and create employment.

"And to write off N$1.3 million worth of debt for the people here, the elderly.  It had so many difficulties that the central government was giving them. For a local authority in this country to receive a statement from the auditor general saying, 'Your finances are well managed,' is commendable. We have to commend them because Mariental is one of the 54 local authorities that is best run in this country. It is not a joke. necessarily. And the few resources we have in the local authority, we are pushing forward to help relieve problems in Marintal."

The LPM also introduced its candidates during the gathering.
