Newly elected members of the National Council will be sworn in on Friday, 12 December 2025, following the recent regional council elections.

Following the recent local authorities elections, Wensel Kana from the All People's Party (APP) was elected as the chairperson of the Divundu Local Authority, deputised by Independent Patriots for Change's (IPC) Angeline Peturi.

Mandatory voting has been explored as a possible solution to boost voter turnout.
