In Lüderitz, dignity and hope took centre stage, as the Town Council officially handed over six out of seven newly constructed houses to some of the most vulnerable residents of the Donkerhoek community.
The housing project, valued at over a million dollars, aims to restore dignity, strengthen community bonds and ensure that every resident, regardless of their income, has a safe place to call home.
Addressing community members, the acting Strategic Executive for Infrastructure and Technical Services of the Luderitz Town Council, Heikki Nauyoma, said the event was more than a ceremonial handover. It was a commitment to restoring dignity and building a future where no resident is left behind.
Access to shelter, he stressed, remains the foundation of human development, stability, and opportunity.
The Council highlighted that the beneficiaries are among the poorest and most vulnerable members of the town, individuals and families who have endured hardship but remained resilient.
Homeowners have been advised to care for and maintain their new properties.
