The International University of Management (IUM) and Meerkat Learning have partnered to improve basic learning outcomes by integrating the Teaching at the Right Level initiative into pre-service teacher training programmes.

The Teaching at the Right Level initiative, run by Meerkat Learning, is an international approach aimed at improving basic numeracy and literacy skills in primary schools at scale.

To this end, IUM and Meerkat Learning, a civil society organisation, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding in Windhoek.

The Vice-Chancellor of IUM is Professor Osmund Mwandemele.

"The Teaching at the Right Level introduces innovative strategies aimed at strengthening IUM primary school teachers and student teachers, thereby preparing them to contribute to addressing persistent challenges. We are indeed, as IUM, extremely delighted that Meerkat Learning is willing to forge a partnership with IUM, and this will enable the two institutions to collaborate in terms of training, and IUM is committed to providing venues for such training as well as organising transport for student teachers to go to nearby primary schools for practical sessions."

"This partnership reflects our shared belief that every child can learn and that with the right tool and right training, every teacher can get there, to reach their full potential. We are inspired by IUM's commitment to build a generation of educators who are confident, responsive and grounded in evidence-based best practices, and we are happy to be able to be part of that journey," stressed Angelica Towne-Amporo, the Country Director of Meerkat Learning.
