Mali's Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Boubacar Diane, declared the development of the Sahel region in line with the dynamics of the global energy industry as one of the main objectives of the Sahel States Alliance at the meeting of the AES Ministers of Mines, Petroleum, and Energy in Niamey on Wednesday.
According to the minister, the global context is marked by changes in the mining and oil industry and an energy transition dynamic based on renewable energies.
He further noted that there is a strong desire among AES member states to keep pace with these changes through major reforms.
Diane stated that the roadmap for Mali's first year as president of the Confederation includes actions related to the harmonisation of sectoral policies, such as energy sovereignty, the pooling of resources to implement structural and integrative projects in the strategic sector, and improving the attractiveness of direct investment.
