42 members of the 7th National Council (NC) were sworn in today following their election in the Regional Council Election held on 26 November 2025.
The National Council members drawn from the country's 14 regions took an oath, with each region represented by 3 members.
Mankumpi Constituency Councillor Lukas Muha was re-elected chairperson of the 7th National Council, deputised by Windhoek West Councillor Emma Muteka.
"I pledge to continue serving you with integrity and commitment. I hereby appreciate and accept the responsibility given to me through the recently observed election, which was uncontested. As a chairperson, therefore, I promise to undertake the constitutional mandate of this council of representatives, legislation and oversight with seriousness and dedication. I will ensure that debates remain respectful and constructive and focus on advancing the interests of all Namibians."
Muha added that several Bills already introduced in the National Assembly will soon be referred to the House of Review.
These include the Mental Health, Regional Council Land and Public Enterprises Governance Bills.
