The Otjozondjupa Regional Education Directorate has recorded improved academic performance for the 2025 school year, with 15 out of 25 secondary schools showing better results compared to 2024.

Education Director for Otjozondjupa Region, Gerhard Ndafenongo, praised teachers, learners and parents for their commitment, saying the overall Ordinary Level performance was encouraging.

Top-performing public schools in Grade 11 were Otjiwarongo Secondary School, Grootfontein Secondary School, Okamatapati Secondary School, JG van der Walt Secondary School and Paresis Secondary School.

Gam Secondary School is the best improved school in the region.

"They had only 6.9% in 2024, but they are now at 53%, followed by JF Van secondary school in UCA. It also increased by 22.04%, and the other school performed very well."

Karsveld Academy is listed as one of the best schools in the country.

Despite the Directorate of National Examinations and Assessment indicating a 1% drop in the national ranking order, Ndafenongo said the reflection of last year's performance is actually an increase.

He said, according to their analysis, the region stands at 35% performance, which is a 10% improvement.

At Advanced Level, Otjozondjupa maintained sixth position nationally for the third consecutive year, while quality sample results also improved.

Ndafenongo urged teachers to maintain the same improvement strategies in 2026 and called on parents to support learners through discipline, study time and reduced screen distractions.
