While Namibia joined the rest of the world in celebration of Workers' Day, the nation woke up to yet another horrific news item following an accident that claimed 11 lives.
Among those who died in an accident, which happened about 30 kilometres south of Otjiwarongo, are three medical staff.
The patients' bus with 11 occupants collided with a truck with three occupants in the morning hours of today.
It is reported that the accident was caused by a kudu that jumped into the road, causing the bus driver to lose control.
All occupants in the bus, believed to be between the ages of nine and 50, were burnt to death.
The occupants in the truck survived.
The bus was driving from Khorixas, dropping off and picking up some patients in Outjo and Otjiwarongo.
A forensic team from Windhoek also arrived at the scene.
The Otjozondjupa Police Commander is appealing to the public to identify the victims by visiting the nearest police station for a DNA test.
Commissioner Philip Hidengwa says the names of the victims will only be released once the DNA test results are out.
