In an attempt to meet the basic services to the growing population of Otjiwarongo, the council has availed a large chuck of its budget to address infrastructure development and economic activities.

The N$215 million budget considered a balance between service delivery demands, infrastructure and financial discipline.

Capital projects have been allocated N$50 million.

The mayor of Otjiwarongo, Leonard Simushi, said, 'A significant portion of the council's core infrastructure, including roads, sewer networks, and water systems, is ageing.' As a result, an increasing share of the budget must be directed towards maintenance, repairs, and, in some instances, full replacement. For the upcoming financial year, Council will focus on strengthening core service delivery systems while maintaining essential infrastructure and supporting economic activity."

The Council has also set aside N$2.6 million for rebates.

"The council remains committed to its social responsibility obligation, particularly towards vulnerable indigent and elderly members of the community. Social care programmes remain an important component of our annual budget."

However, residents owe the council N$79 million, which it says is impacting development rollout.
