The Adventist Development and Relief Agency Namibia (ADRA) has donated food parcels worth nearly N$300,000 to flood victims who were displaced in Nfooma in the Kabbe North Constituency of the Zambezi Region.

The humanitarian act will cater to 228 households, with each household receiving a food kit.

ADRA's acting country director, Dr. Eric Ndala, stated that the aid was a testament to their church's partnership with the people.

"Today, we are not only distributing supplies; we are answering a divine call. When the Zambezi River reached 6.89 metres and displaced more than 1,510 people, this distribution reflects the strong partnership between the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its humanitarian arm, that being ADRA. Through the national emergency management plan, we have worked together to provide a clear, coordinated and transparent response."

He added that the church's commitment does not end today and hoped to engage the Zambezi regional council in building a permanent team for church disaster preparedness.

Control Administration Officer Kabozu Muyoba received the donation on behalf of the regional leadership.

"This food that we are receiving now – let's not open small shops, because tomorrow we might find people are drunk because of this food. VDC members, please take note of those who might sell so that they are not helped next time."

Village Development Committee member Tawana Sitwala conveyed the community's gratitude, emphasising that there remains a pressing need for tents, blankets, and warmer clothing, particularly now that winter is in full swing.
