Thousands of delegates from around the world have converged in Mombasa, Kenya, for the 11th Our Ocean Conference.

The conference is hosted in Africa for the first time.

Several side events and discussions got underway on Tuesday, focusing on fisheries, aquaculture, ocean innovation, blue finance, and maritime investment.

Experts, policymakers, researchers, and private sector representatives engaged in discussions on sustainable ocean management, food security, and the economic opportunities presented by Africa's blue economy.

Particular attention was given to the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in unlocking ocean-based opportunities, with startups and investors exploring solutions to challenges facing the marine sector. Delegates also examined ways to strengthen fisheries management, combat illegal fishing, and improve access to finance for coastal communities.
