With this year's Build It Under-13 Soccer and Netball Tournament set to take place in September, a draw was conducted at Build It's Northern Industrial branch, confirming the eight primary schools that will compete in the tournament.

Build It Windhoek hosted the draw for the Under-13 Soccer and Netball Tournament, with eight primary schools confirmed to compete on 12 September at Theo Katjimune Primary School.

The draw was held at Build It's Northern Industrial branch, where 12 invited primary schools participated to determine seven of the eight schools that will compete in the tournament.

Theo Katjimune Primary School secured automatic qualification as the defending champion, while the remaining seven places were decided through the draw.

Build It Admin Manager Andra Van Staden said the tournament forms part of the company's community initiative, which aims to promote youth development and provide opportunities for young learners to participate in sport.

The schools selected through the draw are Sunshine, Fidel Castro, Hillside, Olof Palme, Auas, St. Andrew's and Havana Primary School.

With the tournament bringing together Under-13 teams from primary schools, the Chairperson of the Khomas School Sports Region, Therens Ndisiro, explained the importance of hosting such events.

The draw also allowed the participating schools to prepare for matches against other Under-13 teams.

Augeikhas Primary School representative Elikan Shapopi expressed his reaction after the school was selected in the draw.

With the eight schools now confirmed, preparations are underway for the tournament on 12 September.

The event will feature football and netball and will focus on youth participation, teamwork and the development of young athletes.

Established in 2007, the Build It Under-13 tournament series is an annual grassroots competition aimed at identifying talent and supporting community development.
