Vice President Lucia Witbooi expressed her condolences to the Rehoboth community following her visit to the family of 11-year-old Gephardt Doeseb, whose body was discovered under the Oanob Bridge last weekend.
Accompanied by the Governor of Hardap Region Riaan McNab and regional councillors, Witbooi offered her condolences, sympathy and solidarity to the families.
According to the police, bruises were observed on Gepthardt's body, and his stepfather was arrested in connection with the case.
Dickson Karumuine appeared before court and was denied bail, and his case has been postponed to the 26th of November.
Early in the week, the Rehoboth community gathered along the B1 road to remember Gephardt and held a candlelight vigil calling for an end to violence, drugs and social ills affecting the town.
