The Deputy Minister of International Relations and Trade, Jennely Matundu, has revealed that the ministry has initiated 28 projects that collectively invested N$66.8 billion, creating over nine thousand jobs.

Matundu was responding to IPC MP Roney Cloete, who wanted to know about the number of jobs created through trade agreements, export promotion and foreign direct investment.

Matundu stated that the ministry is not directly involved in job creation.

It, however, facilitates policies to support investment in the finalisation of the international trade management bill to manage import and exports as well as to develop regulatory measures to support industries.

"While the specific number of jobs mandated for the Ministry may not be explicitly stated directly, the Ministry's focus on enhancing trade relations, prompting exports and attracting foreign direct investment directly contribute to the overall job creation targets as outlined in the national development goals."
