Residents of Eenhana gathered at the infamous earth dam for a candlelight vigil in memory of the two late brothers who drowned in the dam.

The two brothers, Immanuel Tangeni Shapwanale and Lukas Shiwomwenyo Shapwanale, aged 30 and 31, died instantly after their vehicle flipped and fell into the dam while they were trying to draw water for the brick-making project that was owned by one of them.

The ceremony started with a police escort to the business of the two brothers and proceeded to the Anglican Church where the memorial service was held.

The occasion was also attended by Ohangwena Governor Walde Ndevashiya and the Local Authority Councilor for Eenhana Town, Ester Kavela.

The incident left many residents in shock.

They have now appealed to the town council to cover the dam with an enclosure after two other boys also drowned at the same place earlier this year.
