Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare praised the Lüderitz community—the Buchters—for their resilience and unity during the opening of the 19th annual Lüderitz Crayfish Festival. He emphasised that development and innovation flourish when communities support their leaders despite differences.

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Inge Zaamwani, stated that other towns should also benefit from the seasonal opportunities generated by this year's annual Lüderitz Crayfish Festival.

Zaamwani made the remarks during a gala dinner of the Lüderitz Crayfish Festival.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Ruth Masake, commended the organisers of the 18th Lüderitz Crayfish Festival for a well-organised festival.

Masake, together with her delegation, toured corporate and SME stalls at the Lüderitz Waterfront.

The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Derek Klazen, says that the official launch of the Luderitz Crayfish Festival fundraising gala dinner is critical as it sets the tone for aggressive marketing of the annual festival, which is expected to take place from the 29th of April to the 5th of May. 

More than N$450,000 was raised during the 2023 Luderitz Crayfish Festival Gala Dinner.

The festival is slated for the weekend of April 27–29.
