A group of farmers gathered at Farm Ninette in the Omaheke Region over the weekend to discuss the importance of pig farming, effective management, and potential markets. 

Verinao Tjijombo has been farming with pigs for almost a year and owns over 100 of them. 

The Chairperson of the San Community Garden Project at Maranata Plot in the Epukiro Constituency, Paul Chapman, is pleading for water provision to help the garden achieve its desired result. 

Chapman said the borehole will help the community improve their yields and, eventually, their livelihoods. 

A resettled commercial farmer at Okorukambe in the Omaheke Region, Agnes Tjiramba, has urged fellow farmers to come up with ways to address developmental challenges.

Retired nurse Tjiramba said agriculture has the potential to solve many socio-economic challenges.

Eight schools in the Aminuis Constituency received stationery and printing machines through the Omaheke Regional Council office.

According to Aminuis Constituency Councillor Peter Kazongominja, the donation will help smoothen the operations of the receiving schools.

The farming communities at Erindirozombaka in the Otjombinde Constituency have prioritised crop production to address food shortages at the household level.

This is after the community drilled boreholes with the assistance from the government.

Omaheke Police Commander Heinrich Tjiveze reminded cadet trainees that policing is not just about enforcing laws, but it is about building relationships and fostering trust within communities. 

The Omaheke Regional Council, in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister, has started clearing a 13-hectare piece of land earmarked for a community garden.

The land is on the outskirts of Talismanus in the Otjombinde Constituency. 

Omaheke Governor Pijoo Nganate has called on ministries in the region to take the lead in sharing information on Namibia's Sixth National Development Plan (NDP6) and regional priority areas and setting up evaluation and monitoring systems that will accelerate development.

Challenges that obstruct the boy child education, such as dropping out of school, lack of support, use of harmful substances and mental health, have topped the agenda during the Boys to Men event held at Witvlei.

The Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform, Ruth Masake has reminded farming communities about the importance of strengthening agricultural productivity to enhance food security, create jobs and build resilient communities.
