The Namibian Broadcasting Corporation's (NBC) Chief of News and Programming has called on Omaheke residents to continue making use of the national public broadcaster to advance their regional development goals.
Menesia Muinjo made the call during an interview with the NBC news team at Gobabis after regional stakeholder engagement sessions.
Speaking at Gobabis, Muinjo stressed that the week-long engagement with various stakeholders will assist with shaping the regional development agenda; hence, it requires involved key partners to achieve that goal, adding that NBC has a pivotal role to assist the region in that regard.
Muinjo says that such engagement will also help NBC with proper planning and improve the aspects of news coverage and other related broadcasting programmes aimed at ensuring that communities are timely informed.
"As we plan for the new financial year, as we plan for our broadcaster schedules for radio, television and online, now we can take into consideration what Omaheke would like to see or hear or follow on our platforms so that the next time we go to other regions, we also hear what they're up to and what they'd like to see on our platforms. At the end of the day, this data we collect, we look at, and then we sit together with our own plans, considering also NDP6, and then we see how we can enrich our programmes, news and programme."
Muinjo pointed out that the regional leadership, including local people, must embrace opportunities presented by the region hosting the Miss Namibia pageant later this year.
"We have seen it when we have businesspeople at the dinner and the excitement and the artists and the creatives; some of them came prepared, and designers came with their models to show what they can showcase and dress our models. We have also seen the creatives that have had handcraft; it was so amazing that the people are ready. We have seen the young gentleman who sang, the raw talent that is there."
