Kavango West Regional Council has stated that the construction of an office park and 12 community toilets ranks among its major achievements for the 2025/2026 financial year.

Through protests, residents say the situation has affected children's education and daily lives, calling for urgent action to address the water scarcity.

Insufficient budget allocations have delayed completion of the Kavango West Regional Council Office, forcing the council to spend N$120,000 monthly on rent since construction began in 2021.

The Kavango West Region's 2025/2026 budget falls short of addressing critical needs, according to local leaders, with allocations of N$68 million for capital projects and N$48 million for operations deemed too minimal.

The governor of the Kavango West Region, Verna Sinimbo, has questioned whether census statistics are considered when allocating the regional budget. 

She made these remarks during the Regional Profile presentation at Nkurenkuru.

Heavy rain and storms destroyed about 40 hectares of maize at the Uvhungu-vhungu Green Scheme in the Kavango East Region.

This occurred in the early hours of Tuesday. The storm started at around 1:00am and is estimated to have lasted about 20 minutes.

165 learners at the Nconcoma Primary School community hostel in the Kavango East Region do not have enough food to eat.

Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila applauded the positive improvements in the agricultural sector in the Kavango West region.

Dr Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said this at the 36th independence celebration at Nkurenkuru.
