The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety and Security (MHAISS) has assured the nation that the electronic Identity (e-ID) card will not require biometric chips to be injected into their bodies.

The ministry said the e-ID is a physical card, which is safe, inclusive, and will minimise fraud.

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration, Safety, and Security is in the Erongo Region with an awareness campaign about the electronic identity system.

The ministry, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme, is visiting Otjimbingwe to further strengthen community partnerships.

1.6 million SIM cards have been registered across the country as of last month. 

Individuals who have not yet registered their cards are given a 15-day window to do so.
