Keetmanshoop Municipality has warned residents against indiscriminately dumping waste in open spaces next to skip containers instead of inside them.

Oshakati Town Council has commenced with the first phase of the construction of a new sewer treatment plant aimed at resolving the persistent effluent discharge around town.

The project, valued at N$6.9 million, has been awarded to Mediate Trading Enterprises JV Kores Construction. 

Cholera has resurfaced in Zambia, with at least four new cases recorded in the past week.

The Zambia National Public Health Institute managed to contain the first three cases within two days and is now attending to only one patient.

Oshana Health Director Johanna Haimene said the region has recorded significant progress in the number of people accessing HIV treatment, whose number currently stands at over 20,000.

23,245 people are currently on HIV treatment, contributing to improved health outcomes and reduced transmission rates.

The Kavango West Region has recorded 221 new HIV infections over the past year, with seven of those cases reported at Mpora Clinic. 

The Ministry of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) launched a polio vaccination programme in the Kavango East and West regions.

This comes after detection of the virus at a sewerage pond at Rundu's Ndama location.

Polio is a disease caused by the poliovirus.

The Minister of Health and Social Services (MoHSS) says there is no need for panic, but rather collaboration, coordination, and cooperation following the simultaneous announcement of recent health cases and outbreaks. 

In Zambia, 564 people have been discharged from the hospital after recovering from cholera.

Of the initial 577 cumulative cases since the disease broke out in August, only four have remained hospitalised. Nine people have so far died from cholera.

Residents of Gibeon have expressed serious concerns over the continued use of the bucket toilet system, calling it a pressing health risk that requires urgent intervention. 

The Ministry of Health in Zambia has announced the registration of a long-acting injectable antiretroviral for HIV prevention, known as Lenacapavir.
