Thousands of Congolese refugees arrived in Burundi on Saturday, after renewed violence linked to the M23 group in the Democratic Republic of Congo's North and South Kivu provinces. 

SADC has terminated its peacekeeping mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), announcing the phased withdrawal of SAMIDRC troops. The decision was made during a virtual extraordinary summit of SADC Heads of State and Government on Thursday. 

Leaders of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) gathered in Harare on Friday to discuss the worsening security crisis in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

While the southern African region remains peaceful and stable, there are still security challenges in some parts of the SADC that require an effective response.

Promoting peace and security within the SADC region topped the agenda at the Extra Ordinary Troika Summit in Lusaka, Zambia.
