The four shortlisted candidates for two commissioner positions on the Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) have laid out their vision for stronger, more inclusive and more transparent elections during public interviews held today (Wed).

Last week in the National Assembly, AR MP Tuhafeni Kalola proposed that Namibia should lower the voting age from 18 to 16.

Affirmative Repositioning MP Vaino Hangula has tabled a motion in the National Assembly calling for the establishment of a single, unified national election.

Hangula believes that holding separate elections contributes to voter fatigue and unequal participation.
