Kongola residents fearful as frequent prison breaks continue

Residents of Kongola in the Zambezi Region are concerned about the regular prison breaks at the Menias Brian Libuto Police Station.

Since 2014, thirty inmates have escaped from the police holding cells on four occasions.

Two people die in Zambezi in separate incidents

A resident of Ngonga village, John Sakubenya, died in a hit-and-run today at Namushasha in the Zambezi Region.

Authorities believe a vehicle that fled the scene struck Sakubenya.

Sakubenya was found lying on the road with severe head injuries and a fractured right arm in the area of Namushasha.

Zambezi lowest in number of people knowing their HIV status

Zambezi Region has the lowest number of people who know their HIV status.

The region's governor Lawrence Sampofu said this is a matter of grave concern.

Sampofu made the remarks in a speech read on his behalf at the commemoration of the World AIDS Day held at Makanga Village.

Swapo's Kabula commends support for President-Elect Nandi-Ndaitwah

The acting regional coordinator for the Swapo Party in the Zambezi Region commended men for supporting the party's presidential candidate, now President-Elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah.

Dorothy Kabula spoke at the region's victory celebration held in the Katima Mulilo rural district of Bukalo.

Over 100 Zambezi Region police officers promoted

More than one hundred police officers from the Zambezi Region were conferred promotions from constable, sergeant, and warrant officer to sergeant class one and two, warrant officer class one and two, and inspector to the nearest rank.
