The Ministry of Gender Equality and Child Welfare, in partnership with UNFPA and supported by the European Union, HISA Namibia, and the United Nations in Namibia, hosted a community activation event in Windhoek as part of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.

Windhoek approves more funds for debt relief programme

The City of Windhoek has approved additional funding for its debt relief programme for senior citizens and vulnerable residents.​

An additional N$100 million in funding was approved to support pensioners who were 60 years or older by 30 November 2023, but whose previous applications were unsuccessful.​

Türkiye’s ambassador visits Namibian Broadcasting Corporation

Türkiye's Ambassador to Namibia paid a courtesy call to the Namibian Broadcasting Corporation in Windhoek. 

Ambassador Feral Oruçkaptan met with NBC Director General Stanley Similo, where they discussed opportunities on how to tell Namibia's and Africa's cultural stories through media and arts. 

Five cholera cases detected in Grootfontein

A team of medical officers from both Otjiwarongo and Windhoek has been dispatched to Grootfontein, where five cases of cholera have been detected.

Corporate executive Theo Mberirua dies at 63

Seasoned corporate executive Theo Mberirua died at the age of 63 in a Windhoek hospital last night. 

Family members confirmed that the late Mberirua passed away after a short illness.
