Aminuis farmers were filled with excitement as they hosted their very first livestock auction, organised by the Aminuis Farmers Association.

The Swakop Uranium Foundation has officially handed over more than one thousand livestock to resettlement farmers in the Erongo Region, boosting rural livelihoods and food security.

The donation is part of the Hope Farm Project, launched last year.

A private transaction led to the export of three thousand cattle to Mauritius recently.

This was revealed by the Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Land Reform Minister. Inge Zaamwani in response to a question by NUDO MP Vetaruhe Kandorozu.

Speaking at the Independence Celebration at Otjiwarongo on Saturday, former Speaker of the National Assembly, Professor Peter Katjavivi, commended the government for setting up a task force to address the FMD challenge.

Government continues to promote household and national food security.

This is done through the funding of agronomic activities, strategic food reserves or silos, and fresh produce hubs.

Speaker of the National Assembly Saara Kuugongelwa-Amadhila applauded the positive improvements in the agricultural sector in the Kavango West region.

Dr Kuugongelwa-Amadhila said this at the 36th independence celebration at Nkurenkuru.

Farming communities in Namibia's Omaheke Region have welcomed Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform engagements on foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) prevention.

Several cattle farmers in the Zambezi Region are seeking answers after they were told that their cattle would not be bought by the Katima Mulilo Meatco abattoir.

This is despite previously having registered and given a date to show up for the sale.

The Aminuis Constituency Councillor, Isando Kavari, has vowed that his office will work tirelessly on the issue of agriculture, youth empowerment, education and health, amongst other priority areas, in order to advance development.
Kavari remarked this during an interview with NBC News at Aminuis.
