The Netball Namibia AGM, originally scheduled for Gobabis during Easter, had to be postponed due to a lack of quorum, sparking questions within the sport.

One of the agenda items was to address the end of the term of the President of Netball Namibia. A dispute surrounds the presidency position, currently held by Rebecca Gaogoses, who has dedicated over ten years to the Federation.

The AGM was to be overseen by Netball Africa President Cecilia Molokwane, who expressed disappointment when internal issues prevented the meeting from proceeding.

Anonymous officials suggest that Netball Namibia faces challenges as one individual seeks to dominate the office, hindering elected Executive members from fulfilling their duties.

Freddy Mwiya, Chief Administrator of the Namibian Sport Commission, directed Netball Namibia to resolve internal matters to proceed with electing a new president.

Mwiya emphasized the importance of following procedures and maintaining compliance before holding the AGM. He noted challenges within Netball Namibia and stressed the significance of compliance for effective operations.

Regarding Gaogoses' extended leadership despite her term ending in 2022, Mwiya clarified the situation, citing differing interpretations of the two-year extension, which may have led to confusion.

The Sports Commission and Netball Federation will collaborate with regional entities to ensure organizational readiness before rescheduling the AGM.
