Kavango East have been crowned netball champions at the 23rd edition of the Nedbank Namibian Newspaper Cup, following a dominant performance in Outjo that left no doubt about their title credentials.
The team came into the tournament in red-hot form, delivering a series of impressive victories — including knocking out defending champions Khomas — on their path to the final.
Facing Omaheke in what was anticipated to be a tightly contested title match, Kavango East wasted no time asserting their dominance. From the first whistle to the final seconds, they controlled the game, steadily widening the gap on the scoreboard.
The final score: Kavango East 40 - 21 Omaheke — a commanding win that secured their second-ever netball title.
Assistant coach Frans Ndara applauded the team’s discipline and focus throughout the tournament, noting that their preparation and execution had been key to their success.
On the other side, Omaheke coach Gregg Makari cited limited preparation time as a factor in their defeat but remained proud of his team's efforts.
Kavango East last claimed the title seven years ago, during the 18th edition of the tournament held in Katima Mulilo, Zambezi Region, in 2018.
With this latest triumph, Kavango East has firmly re-established itself as a powerhouse in Namibian netball — and the team’s performance in Outjo will be remembered as one of the most dominant campaigns in recent cup history.
