The Electoral Commission of Namibia held a stakeholders meeting in the Kabbe South Constituency in the Zambezi Region together with their stakeholders to assess their preparedness.
Zambezi's Regional Electoral Officer Lesley Simwanza called on all stakeholders involved to take the meeting as a platform to engage positively.
"Firstly, it is to inform all stakeholders about the electoral calendar, procedures, and preparations underway; secondly, it is to provide a platform for dialogue, clarification, and feedback; and lastly, it is to foster a spirit of collaboration and mutual respect among all participants in the electoral process. As we move towards the polling date, it is imperative that we continue to uphold the values of impartiality, accountability, and non-violence."
Regional Voter Education Officer Sammy Muhau said although 80 percent of the Kabbe South Constituency is prone to floods and submerged under water, they were assisted by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Water, and Land Reform.
"This time around we were so lucky our regional office managed to secure a boat from the Ministry of Agriculture, Water, Forestry, and Land Reform. They gave us a boat and a pilot, so this boat is the one transporting our officials to and from the affected areas."
ECN's Deputy Director for Internal Audit Hilma Ashipala further alluded to the preparedness of the commission.
"With only five days to go, we are at a crucial juncture. The commission has worked diligently to ensure that all logistical and legal procedural preparations are in place, so let us engage not only as a forum for information sharing but as a platform for building mutual trust. It is our shared responsibility to protect the integrity of the electoral process and to encourage civic responsibility across all levels of society."
The voter education campaign awareness started on the 2nd of June and will end on the 14th of June.
So far the ECN has covered 90 percent of the constituency.
There are 24 polling stations, 17 that are fixed and seven that will be mobile.
There are 3509 eligible registered voters in Kabbe South.
