The Youth Opportunity (YO) pillar of the One Economy Foundation, in partnership with MultiChoice Namibia, hosted a media masterclass for content creators under the theme “Passion to Pixel to Profit.”
The event aimed to equip micro-entrepreneurs with practical social media skills to improve brand visibility and grow their businesses.
Participants received training on crafting compelling content, using digital tools effectively, and applying monetization strategies.
MultiChoice Namibia’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Elzita Beukes, highlighted the company’s use of social media to advance its projects.
“Last year we produced six feature films for our channels, and Bigi and one lifestyle [series] to show that brand for weeks. And this year... we’re going to do English and Afrikaans. We have about four or five [films] and two lifestyle series and one music show… all of last year's productions are on ShowMax.”
Digital marketing strategist Malulu Angula spoke on how businesses can ease into content creation.
“Look at humans as business owners, as people… telling a story… We all know that a lot of mass production sort of happened with the sharing of stories, sort of with newspapers… Everybody’s reading the same statement.”
Nrepesh Soni, founder of Facilit8 Namibia, emphasized the importance of using the right digital tools.
“Over the years now you have hundreds of tools… Facebook is not just in terms of engaging with business demographics. TikTok is good. TikTok’s age group is 34 and under, but if your aim is to target more engaging, middle-aged adults, then it’s Facebook.”
